Wexham Park Critical Care - Band 5 Staff Nurse Opportunity

We are delighted to offer a rewarding opportunity within Wexham Park Critical Care, ideal for a Band 5 Staff Nurse seeking to grow clinically and professionally within a supportive and dynamic team.

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust operates across three hospital sites in Frimley, Ascot and Slough, offering wide-ranging clinical exposure and development opportunities.

About the Unit

Wexham Park Critical Care Unit is a 16-bedded mixed ITU/HDU (Level 3 and Level 2) unit, delivering care across a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. This includes post-operative and emergency care, as well as post–primary coronary intervention patients. The unit also provides advanced therapies such as intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) support and haemofiltration, ensuring a varied and challenging clinical environment.

Role Overview

This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity, ideal for someone looking to gain valuable experience and make a meaningful impact within a supportive and dynamic team.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Nurse in Charge, the post holder will be responsible for delivering safe, effective and evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients across Levels 1–3.

  • Monitoring, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individualised patient care
  • Working in partnership with patients, their families and the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Safely and competently managing complex monitoring equipment, intravenous infusions and ventilatory support systems
  • Ensuring high standards of clinical practice are maintained at all times
  • Being accountable for the organisation, coordination and delivery of nursing care for patients allocated to them
  • Contributing to the overall effectiveness and quality of care within the unit
