Staff Nurse - Endoscopy

Band 5 Staff Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) Vacancy

Endoscopy Unit – The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Shrewsbury


Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Endoscopy Unit at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Shrewsbury. We are seeking dedicated Band 5 Staff Nurses and ODPs for either full-time or part-time roles following a recent facility upgrade.

Following your training, you’ll work in a dynamic setting assisting with new procedures and gain valuable learning opportunities. On-call service is provided, with the requirement to participate once fully qualified. Cross-site travel to The Princess Royal Hospital is mandatory, so you must have a valid UK driving licence or public transport availability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Pre-procedural care: Assess patients from clinics requiring endoscopic procedures and deliver skilled, patient-centred support during:
    • Admission
    • Procedure execution
    • Recovery and discharge
  • Safety & readiness: Prepare equipment and environments to ensure procedures are conducted safely and efficiently
  • Procedure specialties: Support a diverse range of interventions, including:
    • Endoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy, Bronchoscopy
    • Cystoscopy, PEG insertions, ERCP and EUS
