Job Overview

Band 5 Staff Nurse

Location: Ward F9 Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Frimley Park Hospital

Fixed term contract for 9 months

We are offering an opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the F9 gastroenterology and hepatology team within our Medicine speciality. This is a fantastic chance to gain experience in a specialist gastroenterology and hepatology setting, with support to develop your skills and confidence in delivering high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, compassionate, and effective care to patients receiving intensive chemotherapy
  • Support coordination of the daily patient list and assist with workload allocation
  • Administer Medication safely and in line with best practice guidelines (training will be provided where needed)

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual patient care with minimal supervision.
  • To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that treatments are correctly carried out in accordance with given policy.
  • Responsible for the assessment of complex care needs of patients and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
  • Lead and monitor the performance and standards of care within the Nursing Team.
  • Work collaboratively with the other members of MDT team to facilitate the development of the service

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Current (or pending) NMC registration

Desirable criteria

  • Dementia course or study days

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Awareness of current professional nursing issues
  • Own professional development
  • Ability to manage change within the working environment

  • Experience in caring for elderly patients who have dementia
  • Previous experience managing patients with chronic medical conditions

  • To work in other areas of the department when required
  • Able to work flexible shifts, weekends and bank holidays as required
