Band 5 Staff Nurse – Gynaecology Outpatients
Job Overview
Hours: 37.5 per week Contract: 12-month secondment
Join our friendly and dedicated Gynaecology Outpatients Team as a Band 5 Staff Nurse in a 12-month secondment opportunity, covering a colleague’s leave. We seek a motivated, compassionate, and patient-centric registered nurse with a commitment to delivering high-quality, multidisciplinary care in a busy outpatient gynaecology setting.

Main Responsibilities
Working closely with the Clinic Sister, your key duties include:
- Ensuring effective and efficient management of all Gynaecology clinics, including:
- Colposcopy
- Hysteroscopy
- Nurse-led smear clinics
- Uro-Dynamics
- Two Week Rule Clinics
- Pre-operative sessions
- Leading the delivery of high-standard patient care, maintaining clinical excellence in all interactions.
- Ensuring efficient use of resources while upholding departmental operational standards, including regular equipment testing and maintenance.
- Collaborating across departments to align with Trust-wide initiatives, ensuring seamless quality care.
- Effective communication with the multidisciplinary team and external agencies to facilitate care transitions.
- Obtaining informed consent in line with trust and regulatory policies.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and academic standards of nursing documentation.
- Ensuring safe discharge procedures after consultations and treatments.

Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential)
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration.
Experience (Essential)
- Previous experience in acute Trust environments.
- Relevant experience in NHS healthcare settings (any role).
Desirable (but encouraged):
- Experience in outpatient nursing.
- Prior exposure to Women’s Health specialties.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential:
- Ability to make logical operational decisions.
- Core assessment, planning, evaluation, and implementation (APIE) skills in patient care.
- Application of current research evidence to practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Leadership & team management skills.
Desirable:
- Up-to-date outpatient skills OR willingness to learn and adapt.
