Critical Care Unit Vacancy at Homerton Hospital
The Critical Care Unit at Homerton is an incredibly exciting and rewarding place to work. Over the past few years, the team has delivered outstanding care to critically ill patients in challenging circumstances, demonstrating dedication, commitment, and good humour.
We are expanding and seeking a Critical Care Nurse to join our senior team. This role involves:
- Assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating holistic nursing care for critically ill patients.
- Providing high-quality care for patients across a variety of medical, surgical, and obstetric conditions within a critical care environment.
About the Role
Our senior team is dedicated to developing staff through skills training and supporting them in this dynamic clinical area. We are looking for nurses with:
- A willingness to learn

- Strong teamwork skills

Key Responsibilities
To ensure high standards of care:
- Deliver evidence-based nursing practice
- Communicate effectively with patients’ families and significant others, involving them in care planning and delivery
- Organise patient discharges
- Respond promptly to clinical emergencies (ensuring CPR training is current)
- Safely and competently operate medical equipment
- Monitor and record vital signs, escalating concerns about clinical deterioration to senior staff
- Collaborate in a team approach to achieve ward/unit objectives
- Engage with the multidisciplinary team, fostering effective teamwork
- Support junior staff through mentorship and participation in ward teaching programmes
- Complete mandatory training as required
