About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Nurse to join the Border Stroke and Margaret Kerr Unit. There are 23 hours available.
Applications are invited from Adult Registered General Nurses (RGNs) with experience in, or an interest in:
- Stroke care
- Palliative and end-of-life care
Background
Border Stroke Unit
- 14-bedded unit catering to direct admissions and repatriation from medical wards for rehabilitative care following stroke.
- Recently linked with NHS Lothian for a thrombectomy service (5 days per week), providing direct post-procedure care.
- Multidisciplinary team delivering person-centred care.
- Environment requires adaptability due to unpredictable workload.
Margaret Kerr Unit (Palliative Care)
- 8-bedded ward specialising in palliative and end-of-life care.
- Focus on complex patient and family support, symptom management, and end-of-life care.
- Teamwork-heavy environment with emotional challenges but high satisfaction.
