We are hiring a Staff Nurse; Pre-Operative Assessment Unit to a Hospital in Dublin, Ireland.
Location: On-site – Dublin, Ireland
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and provide effective leadership and teamwork within a multidisciplinary team under the direction of the Day Unit Manager, ADON of Surgical Services, and Director of Nursing.
- Deliver expert clinical care to ambulatory patients, ensuring coordination of pre-operative and procedural testing with consultants, secretaries, and ancillary departments.
- Work in accordance with NMBI guidelines, maintaining high standards of nursing practice and supporting ongoing education for staff, patients, and families.
- Assist in developing and implementing pre-operative assessment programmes, including care protocols, documentation tools, and reporting of abnormal results.
- Collaborate with ancillary departments to coordinate pre-operative education and patient preparation.
- Work jointly with the Bariatric Program RN Coordinator and Wound Care Clinical Coordinator, providing cross-cover and support as required.
- Support the Outpatient and Women’s Clinic teams, assisting with patient care and operational needs.
- Maintain effective communication, accountability, and adherence to infection control and safety standards, including hand hygiene and proper waste handling.
- Demonstrate professionalism through punctuality, proper appearance, attendance, and participation in staff meetings and training sessions.
- Remain flexible to hospital needs, including floating to other departments, participating in quality improvement activities, and providing nursing care as assigned.

Requirements
- Current and active registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting.
- Certificate or postgraduate nursing qualification in Pre-Operative Testing is preferred.
- Management course is desirable but not essential.
- Demonstrated clinical and professional managerial ability, with strong communication skills to liaise effectively with Consultants, GPs, consultant secretaries, and team members.
- Experience in staff orientation and education, including delivering in-service training to ensure correct wound care and dressing practices.
