Staff Nurse – Surgical Inpatient Units
Location: Dublin, Ireland Job Type: Permanent | Full-Time
About the Role
RecruitNet International Ltd, specialists in healthcare recruitment, is seeking a Staff Nurse – Surgical Inpatient Units to join a leading hospital in Dublin, Ireland.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated nurse to work in a dynamic clinical environment, delivering high-quality patient care while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
The successful candidate will provide safe, effective, patient-centred nursing care, adhering to professional practice standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality nursing care to assigned patients, working independently while following professional standards.
- Deliver care aligned with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) guidelines to ensure patient safety and quality care.
- Conduct patient assessments, including nursing histories, and develop individualised care plans tailored to patients' needs.
- Monitor, observe, and document patients’ clinical conditions, reporting any changes promptly to the relevant healthcare staff.
- Administer medications and treatments safely in line with hospital policies and prescribed care plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, compliant with clinical governance standards.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including aseptic techniques and isolation protocols.
- Support admissions, transfers, and discharges, while educating patients and families on treatment plans and care needs.
- Participate in continuous professional development, mandatory training, and quality improvement initiatives to uphold high standards.

Requirements
- Registered General Nurse with a valid NMBI licence.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a Surgical Ward (preferred).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
- Demonstrates motivation, initiative, and a proactive approach to work.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, conveying information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to build positive professional relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Planning, organisational, and time-management skills.
- Flexibility to accommodate shift rotations, night duty, and on-call requirements.
- Recent clinical experience in an acute hospital environment.
- Knowledge of current clinical best practices in surgical nursing.
- Awareness of national healthcare strategies and standards relevant to nursing practice.
