Staff Nurse - Ward 19, Paediatrics
Nursing Opportunities – Paediatric Unit at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital
Job Overview
This is a great opportunity for newly qualified and experienced Nurses to join our team and be part of something amazing.
We offer both permanent and fixed-term/secondment (maternity leave cover) contracts. Our ward provides extraordinary support for new staff and fosters a perfect learning environment for skill development.
We are seeking dynamic, inspired, enthusiastic Nurses with a passion for caring—always striving to do better.
Our team works closely with the Emergency Department, specialising in acute paediatric care. We house an 8-bedded Children’s Assessments Unit, where staff develop skills in triage and Paediatric Geriatric Delay (PGD). Patients requiring interventions like tracheostomy care, CPAP, or high-flow oxygen receive advanced care on our ward.
We also cater to children with oncology needs in our dedicated 3-bedded purpose-built area.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
