Role Description
We're looking for a Staff Product Designer to help shape the future of Fonoa's AI-native Tax Operating System. You'll design new AI-powered products and experiences, simplify complex tax workflows, and help define the future of our platform.
You'll join an independent Design organization, working alongside a high-caliber team of designers, product managers, engineers, and tax managers. As one of our senior individual contributors, you'll have the opportunity to shape our products, influence a brand new design system from the ground up, and raise the quality bar across everything we build.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This is a hands-on Staff IC role reporting to the Head of Design, with a strong focus on systems thinking, craft, and execution.
What You'll Do
- Shape the next generation of Fonoa. Design new AI-powered products and experiences that become core parts of our Tax Operating System.
- Own products end to end. Lead the design process from problem framing and research through interaction design, visual craft, prototyping, and launch.
- Simplify complexity. Turn sophisticated tax, regulatory, and AI workflows into intuitive experiences that customers trust.
- Think in systems. Design scalable foundations, contribute to our new design system, and create patterns that enable future products.
- Partner across disciplines. Work closely with Product, Engineering, AI, Tax, and User Research to shape product direction, not just execute requirements.
- Raise the quality bar. Champion exceptional craft, attention to detail, and thoughtful execution across everything we build.
What We're Looking For
- Exceptional product craft. You care deeply about interaction design, visual quality, motion, and the details that make products feel effortless.
- Strong systems thinking. You can design both individual experiences and the larger product architecture behind them.
- Experience building design systems. You've created or significantly evolved systems that scale across products and teams.
- Complex product experience. You've designed sophisticated B2B, enterprise, fintech, developer, or infrastructure products where simplifying complexity was central to your work.
- AI curiosity. You're excited about designing AI-native experiences that solve real customer problems, not just adding AI for its own sake.
- A strong portfolio. Your work demonstrates end-to-end ownership, clear thinking, and measurable impact, not just polished visuals.
- Collaborative mindset. You communicate clearly, challenge ideas thoughtfully, and enjoy working closely with cross-functional teams.
