Staff RF IC Design Engineer | 6G Cellular / CMOS | Cambridge

A leading global fabless semiconductor giant—powering over 2 billion connected devices annually—is expanding its highly experienced global RF team. Known for pushing the limits in AI, 5G/6G, and Wi-Fi 8, this industry leader is seeking a Staff RF IC Design Engineer to join its UK RF Design Centre.

In this role, you will work on state-of-the-art 6G cellular RF products using advanced CMOS processes. You will take ownership of the specification, architecture design, circuit design, implementation, and verification of complete sub-systems, focusing on innovative signal path or synthesizer designs that deliver first-silicon success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the specification, architecture, and circuit design of complete sub-systems for next-generation 6G RF ICs.
  • Drive innovative signal path or synthesizer designs to achieve leading-edge performance.
  • Collaborate closely with RF System and Application Engineers to define specifications and overcome complex integration challenges for RF SoCs.
  • Oversee and supervise layout implementation, ensuring optimal RF IC layout performance in advanced nodes.
  • Perform EM simulations, RF system analysis, and data analysis to validate and refine designs.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, or a closely related discipline.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience in RF IC design.

Track Record: Proven success in delivering high-performance CMOS RF transceivers to mass production.

Technology: Hands-on experience designing in advanced CMOS nodes (16nm or below).

Tools: Proficiency with Cadence Analog Design Environment, EM simulation software, and data analysis using Matlab or Python.

Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of RF system analysis, cellular system performance requirements, and complex RF SoC integration.

Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving skills, excellent cross-cultural communication across time zones, and the ability to thrive both independently and collaboratively.
