Senior Full Stack Software Engineer – Warehouse Continuity Team
About the Role
As part of the M&S Software Engineering team, you’ll be working within a beloved historic brand, delivering solutions that drive millions of loyal customers and thousands of colleagues. This critical role sits in the Warehouse Continuity team, specialising in the Fashion Home & Beauty (FH&B) Supply Chain & Logistics sub-domain—central to the company’s ambitious growth plan. Your expertise will shape robust, scalable, and observable software solutions across this domain, following best-in-class engineering practices.
What You’ll Do
Core Responsibilities

Software Development
- Develop, test, and debug high-quality, production-grade software solutions
- Uphold and lead coding standards by setting and enforcing best practices

Technical Leadership
- Guide complex projects by ensuring solutions align with M&S’ strategy and engineering standards
- Offer expertise to foster strategic, scalable, and maintainable architectures

Architecture & Design
- Lead the design of scalable, resilient systems and third-party integrations
- Collaborate with architecture teams to deliver high-impact solutions

Code Quality & Review
- Conduct thorough code reviews, focusing on testability, security, performance, and maintainability
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement and collaborative engineering

- Deeply understand business needs by partnering with:
- Product Managers
- Supply Chain & Logistics stakeholders
- Developers & architects
- Translate requirements into effective, scalable technical solutions

Technical Expertise
✅ Full-Stack Engineering Experience
- Proven track record in backend/frontend development, focusing on scalability, performance, and maintainability
- Specialisation in Optimisation and High-Performance Systems
✅ Deep Software Engineering Knowledge
- Expertise in software design patterns, clean code principles, and SOLID principles
- Ability to architect modular, adaptable applications
✅ Testing & Automation Shaft
- Strong understanding of automated testing (unit, integration, E2E)
- Proficiency in performance testing tools and methodologies
- Knowledge of AI/ML-driven testing and quality assurance
✅ DevSecOps at Scale
- Hands-on experience in secure software delivery pipelines
- Implementation of automated security scanning, vulnerability management
✅ Technical Versatility
- Deep proficiency in multiple languages (Java, SQL, TypeScript, Python)
- Experience with cloud provisioning, Kubernetes, and infrastructure automation (Git, CI/CD pipelines)
✅ Cloud-Native Architecture
- Expertise in designing scalable cloud applications (Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform)
- Focus on cloud governance, security, and cost efficiency
