Debt is the world's largest asset class, over $145 trillion, and it still runs on PDFs, phone calls, and spreadsheets. I'm working exclusively with a fast scaling fintech platform that's changing that, serving blue chip institutions across banking, asset management, and law.

I'm growing their backend engineering team, and I'm hiring at two levels:

  • Senior Software Engineer (£90k to £110k)
  • Staff Senior Engineer (£120k to £140k)

Both roles work across the same backend stack: Python, FastAPI/Flask, PostgreSQL, AWS (Lambda, ECS, Docker), with strong typing and Pydantic throughout.

What you'll actually be doing:

  • Building the systems behind complex financial data modelling, access control, ML/AI driven services, and automation
  • Collaborating closely with in-house financial, legal, and editorial domain experts to turn scattered credit data into something usable

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • 5+ years experience, with at least 2 years at Senior level or above
  • Strong Python and API/SOA experience
  • Solid SQL and relational data modelling
