Summary
The Staff Solutions Architect is Temporal’s primary customer-facing technical leader within the New Logo team, with a specific focus on the UK region. This critical role involves working directly with prospects and customers to assess if their applications are suited to Temporal’s platform while highlighting the technical advantages of our cloud service.
Your responsibilities are vital in positioning Temporal as the preferred choice against competitors, empowering technical decision-makers to expand their production applications on Temporal, and strengthening our technical relationships with key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Help prospects evaluate if their applications are a good fit for Temporal
- Guide customers and prospects in understanding the technical benefits and drawbacks of Temporal’s platform and cloud service
- Position Temporal successfully against alternative technologies or approaches
- Foster the conditions needed within customer engineering organizations to scale their adoption of Temporal production applications
- Collaborate with Account Executives to develop and execute tailored account plans
- Own the technical relationship with customer decision-makers during the evaluation and operations of Temporal applications
- Travel requirement: 25–50% (expected)

Requirements
- Excellent technical communication skills (presenting, whiteboarding, writing)
- Comfortability discussing distributed systems, design decisions, and best practices
- Ability to prototype applications and provide end-to-end guidance using Temporal’s supported languages (Java, Go, TypeScript, Python, PHP, C#, Ruby)
- Strong knowledge of production operating topics (security, reliability, performance, cost management, and operations)
- Capacity to offer helpful architecture advice (application patterns, platform architectures) and opinions rooted in technical insight
- Experience with major cloud providers and common development/production services
- Role as a technical advisor to Sales Account Executives, helping assess fit, scoping opportunities, and navigating technical decisions that affect Temporal’s standing

- Aligns and partners well with customer engineering teams
- Works effectively as a coach, enhancing others through insights and mentorship
Compensation
The estimated salary range for this role is £150,000 – £190,000 (base), with a 70/30 base-to-variable split.
- Equity participation is also available.
