Statistical Analyst/Programmer
Statistical Analyst/Programmer – Center for Biostatistics & Epidemiology, Temple University
Position Summary
The Statistical Analyst/Programmer in the Center for Biostatistics & Epidemiology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM) will provide statistical programming, research consultation, and educational support to faculty and trainees. This role offers comprehensive statistical support for study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and publicationlane. The incumbent will act as an independent statistical consultant for trainees and serve as a senior programmer for faculty-led research.
Salary Range: $75,000 – $85,000 (range reflective of factors including experience, education, and internal equity).

Key Responsibilities
Key Duties
- Independently advise on study protocol planning and statistical analysis, including:
- Developing clear research objectives
- Defining outcome measurements
- Provide educational support to trainees, assisting with:
- Data preparation and management for complex studies
- Research question specifications
- Program design and testing
- Independently execute descriptive and inferential analyses, applying univariate and multivariable techniques to study data from:
- Clinical trials
- Retrospective studies
- Epidemiological research
- Bioinformatics initiatives
- Customize and test data collection tools, including:
- REDCap databases
- MS Access systems
- Curate and maintain clean data documentation, enabling consistent decision-making
- Collaborate with faculty across institutional platforms (e.g., EPIC, CMS) to transform datasets for analysis
- Develop standardized quality and logic checks to ensure data accuracy and consistency
- Propose refinements to statistical practices, enhancing study scope, precision, and documentation methods
- Present findings for publication (peer-reviewed manuscripts), conference posters, and abstract submissions
- Offer technical support for software-related issues affecting departmental faculty, staff, and students

Required Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field
- At least 1 year of experience with:
- Statistical analysis
- Statistical programming in medical research
- Industry-standard tools: SAS or Stata
- (Alternative consideration possible: relevant coursework/experiential knowledge may be evaluated as an equivalent combination)
Required Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to make independent biostatistical judgments
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications proficiency
- Computer proficiency in:
- SAS
- MS Office
- Related database software
- Capacity to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- High organizational skills with detail orientation
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related discipline
- 3–5 years of experience in statistical consulting roles
- Familiarity with additional tools and language:
- SQL
- R
- EPIC
- REDCap
- MS Access
- Extra research support experience valued in collaborative team settings
Work Arrangement
This role operates under a hybrid model (on-campus and remote), with arrangements subject to future review by Temple University and the department.
