Location and Working Environment

This position is hybrid and will require you to be onsite one day per quarter in Surrey, Addlestone office.

Purpose & Scope

As a Statistical Programmer, you will be responsible for programming vendor oversight for assigned compounds and contributions to functional/departmental infrastructure projects. The position is expected to understand when seeking Global Programming Lead (GProgL) to ensure successful outcome with respect to resource requirements or key strategic functional issues for a late phase or novel asset and represent Astellas on programming matters during inspections.

Role And Responsibilities

  • Substantial years of experience of relevant programming experience in the pharmaceutical industry and working with vendors.
  • Hands-on programming experience within one or more statistical/data science programming languages (e.g., R, SAS). This includes writing code to manipulate data and analyze a wide array of data sources/types.
  • Understanding of and experience with how to read, interpret, and communicate scientific concepts/data.
  • Understanding of observational methods.

Continue: Role and Responsibilities

For study level programming tasks or well-defined statistical programming deliverables:

  • Is responsible for the production of high-quality, on-time assigned deliverables (such as datasets and tables/listings/figures (TLFs)).
  • Serves as the single point of contact in Programming and works in collaboration with the internal programming team or liaises with the lead at the vendor.
  • Follows Astellas, industry, and regulatory standards in programmed deliverables (including CDISC standards for datasets and internal TLF standards).
  • Actively participates in the development and implementation of programming tools for Statistical Programming infrastructure projects.
  • Is responsible to efficiently communicate, at regular intervals, to functional management on study/project/initiative status and resource issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s in statistics, mathematics, or related field.
