World Leader in Glucose Monitoring, Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) designs, develops and manufactures glucose monitoring systems for use in both home and hospital settings. We have a Centre of Excellence in Witney for the development and manufacture of electrodes and biosensors used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes. The site has been instrumental in the research, development and manufacture of the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System as well as exciting developments in the Libre family including FreeStyle Libre 2, FreeStyle Libre 3 and the Libre Sense system. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Statistician, ideal graduate role, to join our Technical Operations team to provide key statistical support across the ADC product range collaborating with Technical, Operations, Research & Development, Engineering, Quality and Regulatory teams.

We are keen to hear from candidates looking for an opportunity to make an impact at work and contribute to product and process transfers and development of improvements for the next generation of glucose monitoring technology and growth of our facility.

Typical Work Includes:

  • Transferring new products into operations from R&D
  • Supporting manufacturing, stability and product performance monitoring and technical investigations
  • Manipulate and challenge data and processes to drive improvements
  • Assist with the introduction of analytical test methods & development trials (analysis of variance, setting acceptance criteria & capability analysis) and support efforts to reduce measurement variability
  • Work with technologists, scientists and engineers to introduce new machines, materials and processes, inputting into the design of experiments and analysis of resultant data

In this role, you would be joining a vibrant, friendly and diverse group, where you can expect to work across a varied range of projects and statistical techniques. Our statistical teams collaborate to form a network of Statistics professionals, and offer members the opportunity to share best practices, leverage insights and skill-sharing, and build personal career expertise and professional development.

Requirements

As a minimum, you should hold a BSc in Mathematics, Statistics or a numerical science subject. Industry based experience would be beneficial but not essential, as would SAS programming skills. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual who takes initiative and is able to work within a team and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment. You will need to have good oral and written communication skills to be able to prepare reports, interpret results, and provide effective summaries. You must be organised and flexible in your approach to work, with good attention to detail in order to ensure that data and analyses are accurate and meet the requirements of the project.
