Statutory Compliance Project Manager – Process Safety Compliance Team

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Statutory Compliance Project Manager to join our Process Safety Compliance Team, focusing on the implementation and ongoing adherence to the DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002).
As a Statutory Compliance Project Manager, you will:
- Have high-level responsibility for managing DSEAR compliance, ensuring full continuity against regulations and company standards.
- Serve as a crucial interface for stakeholder alignment across Severn Trent (ST) and Hafren Dyfrdwy (HD).
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver effective DSEAR compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Complete DSEAR site risk assessments and classify hazardous areas.
- Ensure assurance of DSEAR compliance across all functional areas of the business.
- Manage periodic statutory inspections of assets and equipment in hazardous areas.
- Support remedial work for non-compliant equipment and installations.
- Oversee risk management for DSEAR-related activities and fraud prevention.
- Enhance asset data and maintenance planning related to DSEAR compliance.
- Provide technical support to the business on DSEAR compliance while fostering best practices by sharing insights.
- Manage contractor alignment to uphold compliance and delivery of DSEAR inspections, treatments, and modifications.
- Support improvements in DSEAR competencies across both ST and HD.

Supporting Responsibilities
- Contribute to associated Health & Safety standards, regulatory updates, and safety incident investigations.
- Measure and report dherence against compliance criteria and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Immediately resolve issues or risks that impact delivery.
- Foster close stakeholder relationships, including internal teams (such as capital delivery groups). Safetyands Wellbeing teams) and external Communities of Practice (CoP).
- Develop and control DSEAR compliance processes to align with DSEAR requirements.
- Manage both operational and capital financial feasibility for compliance activities.
This role will be a core part of our Health, Safety, Security, and Wellbeing team. Operating 37 hours per week.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a motivated candidate specialising in statutory compliance management, with:
- Experience delivering large-scale, multi-site stability projects while considering risk and health & safety.
- Deep knowledge of DSEAR and its associated codes of practice.
- Understanding of water and wastewater industry standards and the portfolio of explosive atmospheres in potable and wastewater systems commonly.
- Specified knowledge of mechanical and electrical system industry maintenance and operations.
- Experience managing deliverables with external supply chains, ensuring compliance and key performance criteria delivery.
- Proficiency in process engineering, instrumentation, firefighting system design, fire safety, inspection, and certification would be advantageous.

Desirable, but not essential:
- CompEx, APM, or NEBOSH/IOSH qualifications.
- Any vocational level qualifications such as electrical/mechanical NVQs (Level 3 or higher).
This role requires a full UK driving license.
