Statutory SEND Coordinator

Statutory SEND Services Coordinator

Suffolk County Council Hybrid working (40% office-based)

Address: Ipswich IP1 2BX, Bury St Edmunds IP33 3YU or Lowestoft NR33 0EQ Salary: £34,434 per annum (pro rata if part-time) Hours: 37-hour week (flexible working options available) Contract: Permanent

About the Role

Reimagine the possibilities.

Every child and young person deserves the opportunity to fulfil their potential. As a Statutory SEND Services Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive the tailored support they need to thrive.

You will advocate for children, young people, and their families, ensuring their voices are central to all decisions. This role involves coordinating statutory processes, collaborating with schools, health professionals, social care, and partner agencies while delivering high-quality, child-focused outcomes.

This is a rewarding yet demanding role that requires resilience, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to empowering vulnerable groups. You will need to balance multiple priorities, manage complex caseloads, and remain solution-focused when supporting families and delivering EHC (Education, Health and Care) assessments and revisions on statutory timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate EHC (Education, Health and Care) processes: Manage and complete Education, Health and Care Annual Reviews while adhering to strict statutory deadlines.
  • Manage a high-pressure caseload: Handle multiple existing and new cases efficiently, making professional judgments while balancing competing priorities.
  • Be the link professional for families: Build and maintain trusting, collaborative relationships with families, ensuring clear communication and emotional support.
  • Champion the voice of children: Actively ensure their wishes and needs are central to decision-making.
  • Collaborate across sectors: Work closely with schools, health services, social care teams, and partner agencies to deliver a coordinated, sustained response.
  • Maintain safeguarding awareness: Identify, assess, and mitigate risk while prioritising child welfare.

What to Expect

This is a fast-paced, challenging role where you will face diverse, escalating situations with competing priorities. Families may experience stress, professionals have differing viewpoints, and some scenarios will feel complex.

Success hinges on your ability to:

  • Stay focused on the best outcomes for children and young people
  • Communicate clearly, empathetically, and professionally
  • Adapt flexibly and recover quickly from setbacks

You’ll work within a supportive, collaborative team that values teachable moments, problem-solving, and shared learning. Your impact on Suffolk's children and families will be direct and meaningful.

Requirements & Qualities

We welcome applicants who can bring passion, professionalism, and resilience to this crucial role.

Essential:

  • Strong ability to stay calm, organised, and solution-focused under pressure
  • Experience working directly for or on behalf of children, young people, and families
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse stakeholders
  • Capacity to manage challenging, sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Robust organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of SEND processes, legislation or frameworks, or willingness to develop this knowledge quickly

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
