Basic Eligibility for Post-Study Australian Work Visa
Who can apply?
- Candidates who have earned a master's degree through coursework are eligible for a two-year Australian post-study work visa.
- Those who have earned a master's degree by research are eligible for a three-year work visa.
Eligibility
- Students should be in Australia at the time of application for either the graduate workstream or the post-study workstream of the Temporary Graduate Visa.
- Applications must be submitted as soon as their courses are finished and within a six-month window.
- For the Skilled Recognized Graduate Visa (subclass 476), applicants may be inside or outside of Australia at the time of application but must be outside of Australia when the visa decision is made. Applications must be submitted within two years of completing the course.

Types of Australian Post-Study Work Visas
Colleges & Universities
Temporary Graduate Visa - Subclass 485 (Graduate Workstream):
- For foreign students with skills and credentials in demand in Australia.
- Allows a stay of up to 18 months.
- Applicants must apply within six months of course completion.
Temporary Graduate Visa - Subclass 485 (Post-Study Workstream):
- Ideal for international students with recent degrees from Australian institutions.
- Allows a stay of 2 to 4 years.
- Applicants must apply within six months of course completion.
Skilled Recognized Graduate Visa (Subclass 476):
- For engineering graduates from specific institutions within the last two years.
- Allows a stay of up to 18 months.
- An additional post-study work arrangement offers a 1 or 2-year extension on the Temporary Graduate Visa starting in 2021 (excluding Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane).

- Under 31 years old.
- Engineering degree within the last 24 months from a recognized institution.
- Must not hold a subclass 476 or 485 visa.
- Meet moral and fitness standards.
- Proficient in English or hold a valid passport from the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, or Ireland.

Temporary Graduate Visa (Graduate Workstream):
- Recent graduate under 50 years old.
- Skills and qualifications must be on the Skilled Occupation List.
- English proficiency required (IELTS, TOEFL-iBT, PTE Academic, or Cambridge C1).
- Completed a CRICOS-registered course.
- Must meet medical and character requirements.
- Must not hold a subclass 476 or 485 visa.

Temporary Graduate Visa (Post-Study Workstream):
- Under 50 years old.
- Graduate degree from a CRICOS-registered program.
- Recent student visa holder or within six months of holding one.
- Must not hold a subclass 476 or 485 visa.
- Must meet Australian study requirements.
- Must hold one of the following degrees: Bachelor’s, Honours, Master’s by coursework, Master’s (extended), Master of Research, or Doctoral.
- English proficiency required (IELTS, TOEFL-iBT, PTE Academic, or Cambridge C1).
- Must meet medical and moral standards.

Cost
- Graduate work stream temporary visa: AU$ 1650
- Graduate visa for post-study job stream: AU$ 1650
- Skilled recognized graduate visa: AU$ 405
Processing Time
- Graduate work stream: 90 to 4 months
- Post-study workstream: 70–90 days
- Skilled recognized graduate visa: 8 to 11 months
Procedure
- Gather all necessary documents.
- Visit the ImmiAccount official website.
- Create an ImmiAccount or log in.
- Complete the visa application form and include required documents.
- List family members' information if applicable.
- Pay the application fee online.
