Role Description
The Steel Installer role is a full-time, hybrid position based in Houghton-Le-Spring, with some work-from-home flexibility for planning, documentation, or coordination tasks. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Installing structural and architectural steel components on-site
- Following technical drawings and specifications
- Working with other team members to ensure safe, accurate assembly
- Preparing and handling materials
- Using appropriate tools and equipment
- Carrying out measurements, alignment, and adjustments as needed
- Inspecting completed work for quality
- Recording work details
- Communicating with supervisors and project managers
- Adhering to all health and safety regulations

Occasional travel to various project sites within the region may be required.
Qualifications
- Practical steel installation experience, including handling, positioning, and fixing structural and architectural steelwork
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications for steel fabrication and installation
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment safely and effectively on construction or industrial sites
- Strong understanding of health and safety practices, including working at height, manual handling, and use of PPE
- Good teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate tasks and follow instructions accurately
- Valid driving license and ability to travel to different project locations as needed
- Reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
