Sterile Services Team Leader
Team Leader – Instrumental Processing (Decontamination & Sterilisation)

About Us
At STERIS Instrument Processing (IP), we are the recognised experts in surgical instrument sterilisation. Our services include:
- Onsite and offsite instrument re-processing
- Reliable maintenance solutions for medical equipment
- Use of cutting-edge technology to deliver the highest standards of infection prevention
We are currently seeking a Team Leader to oversee a learning team, ensuring productivity, staff welfare, and operational excellence in our decontamination, assembly, and sterilisation processes. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute directly to patient safety in healthcare settings.
Working Pattern
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
- Monday–Friday rotation:
- Week 1: 07:00–15:00
- Week 2: 12:00–20:00
- Additional responsibilities:
- 1 in 4 Saturday shifts (08:00–16:00)
- On-call rota
Key Responsibilities
Quality & Safety Compliance
- Ensure safe and efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, and sterilisation, adhering strictly to quality standards.
- Supervise operational activities to guarantee timely delivery of clean and sterile instrumentation.
- Enforce Health and Safety procedures, maintaining full compliance with all regulations.
- Monitor and maintain departmental quality assurance records in alignment with Quality Management Systems (QMS).

Staff Leadership & Support
- Provide direct and effective supervision to the team, fostering a culture of accountability.
- Proactively evaluate and reinforce Health and Safety policies, ensuring staff are informed and regularly trained.
- Collaborate with the Production Manager on planning, operational processes, and continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement
- Actively contribute innovation suggestions and best practice solutions within the management team.
- Drive process efficiencies and uphold the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Experience & Skills Required
Essential Characteristics
- Educated to a good general standard with proven verbal and numerical abilities
- Basic IT proficiency for track-and-trace systems
