Manufacturing Operations Support Lead
Whatever we achieve together is nothing short of bold ambition. We manufacture and supply reliable, high-quality medicines and vaccines to meet patients’ needs and drive our performance with a global network of 37 manufacturing and vaccine production sites. In 2024 alone, we delivered:
- 1.7 billion packs of medicines
- 409 million vaccine doses
Our supply chain is the backbone of innovation—carrying new treatments to patients swiftly, efficiently, and safely. To continue this journey, we’re pushing beyond traditional boundaries by integrating advanced manufacturing technologies—such as robotics, digital solutions, and AI—to accelerate product development.
We’re seeking a driving force to lead operational support for a regarded-manufacturing value stream in a highly regulated environment.
About the Role
This confident, collaborative, and results-driven role will involve:
- Operational execution: Leading daily operations to ensure timely production while maintaining safety and compliance.
- Multidisciplinary alignment: Partnering with quality, engineering, and technical teams to balance speed, quality, and scale.
- Improvement leadership: Driving continuous improvement, project management, and change initiatives.
- Cultural champion: Upholding our principles of honesty, accountability, and patient focus while fostering a culture of leadership development.

Responsibilities

Key activities encompass:
- Overseeing day-to-day production delivery, harmonising schedules with quality and safety targets.
- Serving as the central operations point of contact for cross-functional projects.
- Ensuring preparatory readiness before internal/ external audits and inspections.
- Maintaining production continuity and documenting value-stream operating criteria.
- Coaching frontline teams and managers to sustain operational excellence via localised change.
- Sourcing and delivering stabilising/measurable innovation across key areas.

Why You?
Core Requirements
We are hiring individuals with these must-have experience and qualities:
- Regulated manufacturing/ packaging encountered experience (quality and safety retention critical).
- Hands-on operational delivery via day-to-day management within fields like production, supply chain or support system.
- Proven track record in deconstructing complexity to advance operational change.
- Outstanding quality and safety mindset, knowledgeable in regulatory standards for medicine/ vaccine manufacturing.
- Collaborative skills with ability to connect, inform and steer diverse teams across functions.
- Evidence of establishing eligibility under UK right-to-work laws.
Preferred Plus Points
- Formal degrees or credentials in engineering, applied science or manufacturing.
- Technical skills in manufacturing execution systems (e.g., SAP).
- Regulatory and operational experience managing site audits, deviations, or controls.
- A background in people coaching/ management, particularly advocating changes beyond direct reports.
- Lean-SSigma, six-sigma, and/or other operational excellence methodologies’ knowledge.
- Capacity/ production planning/prioritisation persuasion to aligned value streams.
Working Arrangement
This is a site-role requiring any day’s on-call attention at GlaxoSmithKline’s Solid untenures.
The role demands interaction across functional dependencies (e.g., quality and engineering safety protocols), with arms vis-à-vis external or latent audit obligations.
