Location: Grantham Contract: Full-time (Sunday - Thursday, 23:00 - 07:30 AM) Hours: 40 per week Salary: Annual base salary of £28,992 + full package of benefits and product discounts

Brakes, a leading UK food business and part of Sysco—the world’s largest foodservice provider—is hiring for a Stock Investigator role in Grantham. Join an expanding, industry-leading team that is committed to excellence in food distribution. This role provides opportunities to grow your career in a dynamic, well-supported workplace.

About the Role

Brakes operates a sophisticated multi-temperature warehouse to supply foodservice businesses nationwide. As the Stock Investigator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining optimal stock levels for the full range of high-quality products in our distribution centres.
  • Conducting daily stock counts and investigations of discrepancies, ensuring complete accuracy.
  • Producing detailed reports to mitigate stock shortages while improving customer service and satisfaction.
  • Minimising wastage through effective stock rotation.
  • Supporting stock control initiatives to align with delivery deadlines and business aims.

This cerebral yet hands-on role requires you to interact with warehouse teams to deliver the highest possible standards of food safety and product availability. Whether it’s uncovering last-mile opportunities to improve stock flows or implementing new tracking procedures, you’ll help us lead with value and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurate stock investigation: Identifying shortfalls, discrepancies, and solutions, including inspections of cold/frozen environments where required.
  • Inventory audits: Working methodically through high and low-value stock areas to corroborate mystery stock on shelves.
  • Reporting: Producing clear and actionable reports to relay findings to warehouse managers and other operational departments.
  • Continuous improvement: Observing promising systems across multiple distribution sites, adapting practices to enhance efficiency.
  • Safety and compliance: Ensuring HACCP and food safety policies are upheld at all times.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
