Job Introduction

As a Stock Operative for the New Destination at Selfridges, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of all back of house operations at our new destination. Responsible for the efficient handling, movement, and compliance of stock. You will support the Stock and Operations Department Manager and Personal Shopping team in delivering a seamless and luxurious client experience.

Key Responsibilities

Stock Management & Back of House Operations

  • Own the movement of stock between Oxford Street and our new destination, both OB and concession, ensuring all transfers, appointment stock and holds are processed accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain an organised, compliant, and safe stockroom environment, following Selfridges’ standards and audit requirements.
  • Support post-appointment activity, including clearing suites, returning unwanted products to shop floor, and steaming return stock when required.
  • Prepare for and support all stock audits by checking stock on loan, hold tickets, paid items, and compliance documentation.
  • Support the ISF team with stock requirements and requests to minimise abandonments.
  • Coordinate any RTVs and RTWs or Store to Store Transfers (Return to Vendor) and ensure accurate reconciliation of stock movements.
  • Be flexible and available to meet the demands of the fluid new destination’s environment to provide the support required to facilitate our client needs and requirements.

Shipping, Exports & Fulfilment

  • Coordinate all client dispatches and shipments in line with Selfridges’ and brand partner standards, liaising with the Dispatch teams to ensure all shipments are processed efficiently and queries are resolved promptly.
  • Support shoppers and assistants by handling logistics and documentation, allowing them to remain commercially focused on client engagement.
  • Act as a porter when required, safely transporting stock or client purchases to vehicles, taxis, or collection points.

  • Uphold all compliance, health, and safety standards, ensuring fire exits and work areas are always clear, safe, and well maintained.
  • Follow all processes relating to Faulty, Sold as Seen, Refund reconciliation, Dump SKUs, and Repairs to minimise stock loss and write-offs.
  • Ensure that all product handling, storage, and presentation meet Selfridges’ and brand partner requirements.
  • Act as a key liaison point between Personal Shopping, Operations, Dispatch, and Retail teams, ensuring a consistent and efficient service.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Highly organised, reliable, and detail orientated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experienced in retail operations, stockroom management, or back of house functions within a luxury or department store environment.
  • Calm under pressure, adaptable to changing priorities, and motivated by maintaining world class operational standards.
  • Physically capable of lifting and moving stock safely and securely.
