Store Assistant
Store Assistant in Inverness (20 Hours per Week)
We are seeking candidates who live locally and can easily commute to our store. Flexibility is essential with store operating hours from 7 AM to 8 PM.
About the Role
At Toolstation, we don’t just want you today – we want to help you grow with us. Many Store Assistants have progressed to become Store Managers, leaders, or even run their own stores.
This is more than your typical job. You’ll be the friendly face of Toolstation, contributing to various tasks beyond customer service:
- Managing deliveries
- Unpacking and stocking shelves
- Preparing orders
- Maintaining store cleanliness
No retail experience required – we’ll train you! While it can be physically demanding (hot in summer, chilly in winter), our success depends on your commitment to excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Get stuck in: Handle deliveries, stock management, groundwork tasks, and customer service.
- Provide outstanding service: Deliver fantastic experiences during busy and regular service.
- Ask the right questions: Show genuine interest in customers’ projects to recommend the right tools and products.
- Be proactive: Sell Toolstation Club and Trade Accounts to eligible customers.
- Reflect our values: Maintain friendly interactions, adherence to schedule, and often share shifts.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
