The Opportunity

As a Store Colleague, you’ll directly impact the JD Group experience every day. Your role includes:

  • Welcoming customers with enthusiasm, ensuring they feel supported and excited by our offerings.
  • Maintaining a well-organised, fresh shopping environment:
    • Greeting customers with energy.
    • Merging stock and displays to showcase our on-trend, premium brands.
    • Keeping floors clean, displays branded, and stock continuously replenished.
  • Collaborating with your team to uphold elevated retail standards—from shop presentation to exceptional service.
  • Thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with flexibility and positive outlook.
  • Gaining support, skills, and training while building lasting client relationships and kickstarting your career.

• Frontline customer service:

  • Create a welcoming atmosphere by greeting and engaging customers cheerfully.
  • Provide personalised product recommendations and support throughout their journey.

• Operational excellence:

  • Use in-store technology to check stock, process receipts, and promote additional items (e.g. accessories, apparel, outdoor gear).

• Stock management:

  • Ensure displays are always fresh and stocked, with no gaps in aisles.
  • Keep marketing materials updated and high-impact areas easily accessible.

• Compliance & safety:

  • Assist with till operations, payroll processing, cash handling where applicable.
  • Follow all retail health, safety, and hygiene protocols.

• Support roles:

  • Work with teams on in-store events, promotions, or training.
  • Report stock discrepancies, malfunctioning equipment, or general store needs.

Requirements

  • Attitude fit for a customer-centric, fast-paced retail environment:
    • Proud of our unique selling proposition: up-to-date, aspirational sportswear, sharp presentation, warm community atmosphere.
  • Interpersonal skills:
    • Communicate clearly, support teamwork, and respond positively to customer needs.
  • Adaptability:
    • Willing to take on new tasks, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to team-set achievable goals.
  • Availability:
    • Sharp throughout flexible shifts, including weekends, evenings, and seasonal rushes (e.g. winter footwear, summer performances).

Desirable Traits (Not Mandatory)

  • Familiarity with outdoor/sports brands and passion for JD’s global lifestyle appeal.
  • Humble yet proactive nature to engage with customers efficiently.
  • Eagle eye for detail to maintain polished store aesthetics.
  • Ownership mindset with enthusiasm to:
    • Upsell/commend products and grow sales in line with customer preferences.
    • Drive personal development via upskilling.
