Job Summary
Manages staff and oversees store operations to ensure quality of product, food and physical safety, and adequate inventory stock levels. Responsible for total store sales and profits through use of acceptable business practices. Promotes high level of engagement and customer satisfaction; and ensures adherence to Company standards and procedures.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Carries out management responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training and developing partners; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining partners; scheduling, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
- Reviews historical data to predict future sales from ads and promotions. Manages inventory using item management processes to ensure satisfactory in-stock levels. Reviews profit and loss, sales, shrink, and labor data; provides verbal or written summary to upper management regarding any related issues.
- Directs store operations and manages operating expenses to maximize cash flow, EBITDA, sales, shrink, gross margin, and net profit.
- Responsible for maintaining and improving sales performance, cash flow, public relations, product quality, work standards, and labor.
- Reviews and analyzes budget and personnel reports to determine and address areas of concern, and to plan long-term strategic objectives aligned with supporting banners.
- Displays exemplary customer service and acts as a role model for partners; enforces customer engagement standards by greeting customers, answering questions, and responding to customer complaints.
- Ensures implementation of effective merchandising plans to increase sales through displays, store layouts, and category management promotions.
- Communicates with Category Managers regarding product delivery, service, and impact on store operations.
- Conducts store inspections and takes appropriate action to ensure store conditions adhere to Company standards. Enforces quality control and food safety standards throughout the store and ensures dated products are stocked and rotated properly.
- Stays up-to-date regarding community activities such as business openings or closures to monitor potential impact on store business.
- Required to open/close store. Ensures the store is presentable for the customer shopping experience; makes certain adequate staff is available; ensures safety, responsiveness, and fiscal management of cash and monetary assets.
- Maintains clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to Company safety procedures.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of store operations required.
- Advanced understanding of Company checkout policies and procedures.
- Advanced knowledge and compliance of state laws regarding the sale of alcohol, tobacco, and lottery, as applicable.
- Advanced knowledge of anti-money laundering and other government regulations relating to monetary transactions.
- Advanced knowledge of cash register.
- Advanced knowledge of WFM (Workforce Management).
- Intermediate knowledge of on-site fuel station procedures, if applicable.
- Basic knowledge of SAP for reporting purposes.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate (in written and verbal form) with customers and partners.
- Ability to remain professional and courteous with customers at all times.
- Ability to lead and motivate others.
- Ability to carry out long-term strategic objectives aligned with Company initiatives.
- Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
- Must be detail-oriented.
- Ability to evaluate partner performance and make corrections as needed, in a tactful manner.
- Ability to learn new processes and transfer knowledge to others.
- Ability to perform basic Microsoft Office functions.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work safely with sharp objects such as knives, box cutters, etc.
- Ability to use precision and non-precision hand tools.
- Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to occasionally travel to off-site and out-of-town locations required with possible overnight stays.
- Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.
- Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.

Education, Experience And Qualifications
- Minimum 21 years of age required.
- Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.
- Associates Degree in related field and four or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
- Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) certification required.
- TABC/LACT/AATC certification required where applicable.
- Manager Food Safety certification required.
- AML certification required.
