About the Role

Kate Spade New York is seeking a dynamic, visionary Store Manager to lead a retail environment that balances service excellence, operational efficiency, and cultural vitality. In this pivotal role, you will:

  • Maximize profitability and productivity through strategic leadership and a customer-centric approach.
  • Model and instill Kate Spade New York’s values, ensuring every interaction aligns with our bold, lifestyle-driven brand.
  • Foster an inclusive workplace where diversity and authenticity thrive, mirroring our global community.
  • Oversee clienteling, omni-channel sales, and community-building to create seamless, personalized shopping experiences.

Key Responsibilities

1. Client & Service Excellence

Drive and sustain exceptional customer service while cultivating long-term loyalty through:

  • Modeling service behaviors and coaching the team to deliver premium client experiences across all touchpoints.
  • Leveraging clienteling (CRM/client book) strategies to:
    • Maintain proactive outreach, personalized follow-ups, and AOV augmentation.
    • Achieve KPI targets for conversion rates, appointment bookings (virtual/physical), and shipping services.
  • Empower the team to troubleshoot and resolve customer issues swiftly using outreach tools.
  • Champion loyalty programs, including reward schemes and social media engagement.
  • Gather and share customer feedback, merchandising insights, and product trends with senior leadership.

2. Leadership & Talent Development

Build and uphold a high-performing, motivated team aligned with the brand’s mission:

  • Recruit, train, and mentor team members who embody Kate Spade’s bold, diverse, and inclusive values.
  • Establish clear expectations, conduct ongoing coaching, and facilitate bi-weekly performance reviews to drive growth.
  • Foster a culture of equitable advancement, rewarding excellence while addressing underperformance constructively.
  • Grow team bench strength through succession planning, cross-training, and mentorship.

3. Business Ownership & Planning

Assume full accountability for store financial health and operational agility:

  • Set and exceed sales targets, productivity metrics, and KPIs via forward-thinking financial planning and analysis.
  • Optimize inventory and markdown strategies to balance profitability with customer demand.
  • Partner with regional leadership, merchandising, visual merchandising, and marketing to execute store-specific strategies.
  • Promote retail innovation, including emerging technologies (e.g., live/virtual shopping) that elevate client engagement.

4. Brand Equity & Visual Merchandising

Curate a luxury, aspirational environment that reinforces Kate Spade’s global brand identity:

  • Storytelling through visuals: Oversee editorial storytelling, displays, and window designs to align with seasonal collections.
  • Ensure consistent brand guidelines are implemented throughout the shopping journey.
  • Collaborate with merchandising teams on thematic displays that reflect Kate Spade’s iconic, lifestyle-driven spirit.

5. Operational Excellence & Compliance

Maintain seamless operations, adherence to policies, and a predictable, efficient retail workflow:

  • Oversee sales floor coverage, scheduling, and payroll management without exceeding budget constraints.
  • Ensure strict adherence to loss prevention, inventory accuracy, and facility security protocols.
  • Lead regular store meetings to communicate key business updates, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Utilize CRM, Microsoft Office ([Excel, Outlook]), and proprietary reporting systems to track performance metrics.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3+ years of progressive store leadership in retail or luxury service sectors.
  • Proven capability in modelling brand integrity and dining out to a luxury/premium audience.
  • Foundational knowledge of grukking clienteling strategies and CRM tools.

Technical Skills

  • Microsoft Office: Advanced users (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms, CRM, POS, and retail proprietary tools.
  • Understanding of social selling trends, livestreaming, and omni-channel execution.

Leadership Core Competencies

  • Excellency in stakeholder management and conflict resolution.
  • Data-driven decision-making with a focus on KPI optimization for retail success.
  • Fleet-footed problem-solving, time management, and adaptability.
  • Fluent in British English (for EU roles) and able to maintain clarity in complex, dynamic environments.
