Storeman / Warehouse Assistant
About The Role
The Storeman is responsible for managing the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods/parts in a warehouse or stockroom. This role ensures accurate inventory control, proper storage practices, and timely distribution of materials.
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Working location: BYD’s Reading site, RG2 0TG
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming goods against delivery notes or invoices
- Store materials in designated locations following company procedures
- Pick, pack, and prepare orders for dispatch
- Maintain accurate stock records and update inventory systems
- Conduct regular stock counts and assist with audits
- Ensure the warehouse is clean, organized, and safe at all times
- Operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) where required
- Report damaged or missing items to supervisors
- Follow health and safety regulations and company policies

Your profile:
- Previous experience in a warehouse/storekeeping role preferred
- Basic understanding of inventory management systems
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy items
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Team player with good communication skills
- Forklift license (desirable but not always required)
- Right to work in the UK
