Location: Gillingham Salary: £27,976 – based on a 40-hour week Hours of Work: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Monday to Friday)


Summary

Hill McGlynn Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established and respected construction company based in Gillingham. They are seeking a practical and detail-focused Stores and Facilities Operative to support the day-to-day running of their warehouse and operational site.

This role combines hands-on stores management with facilities support, ensuring:

  • Materials are accurately tracked and readily available
  • The workplace remains safe, organised, and fully operational

You will work closely with internal teams, contractors, and tenants to maintain:

  • Efficient stock control
  • Support for logistics activity
  • A well-run, compliant and audit-ready environment

  • Supporting daily warehouse operations
  • Ensuring facilities remain safe, organised, and operational

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of materials, tools, parts, and consumables
  • Conduct cycle counts and stocktakes, reporting discrepancies
  • Issue materials to internal teams and contractors
  • Manage goods-in and goods-out processes
  • Support facilities, tenants, and site logistics
  • Maintain safe, clean, and compliant working areas
  • Monitor PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and equipment
  • Report stock shortages and operational issues

About You

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in a warehouse, stores, or stock control role
  • Confidence in handling materials and maintaining records
  • Basic health and safety understanding
  • Basic IT literacy (proficient in email, Excel, and stock systems)
  • Valid counterbalance forklift license
  • Literacy and numeracy to GCSE standard

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, SharePoint)
  • Manual handling certification
  • Background in maintenance, construction, or estates
  • Experience with inventory management systems
