SailGP Technologies, Level 3 Composite Laminating Technician
SailGP Technologies, the high performance design, engineering and manufacturing arm of SailGP, the global purpose-led sail grand prix championship, is seeking a Stores & Inventory Control Specialist to join their Southampton-based team.
About SailGP Technologies
The Rolex SailGP Championship is the most thrilling racing on water, where teams battle in identical high-tech F50 catamarans exceeding speeds of 100km/h (60mph) in stadium venues worldwide. Since its founding in 2018, SailGP has grown into one of the fastest-emerging sports and entertainment properties, now in its sixth season.
Evolving from decades of innovation in sail racing, SailGP Technologies relocated from New Zealand to Southampton, UK, within a state-of-the-art facility opened in Spring 2024.
Job Summary
As the primary custodian of the SGPT stores function, this role ensures materials and components remain accurately controlled, traceable, and available to support manufacturing, development programmes, and Tour operations. Responsibilities include:
- Owning and maintaining stores processes, inventory accuracy, and traceability
- Garanteeing efficient receipt, inspection, storage, and supply of components across their lifecycle
Key Responsibilities
Stores & Inventory Management
- Own and maintain the stores area, ensuring cleanliness and functionality
- Maintain accurate inventory records across all stock locations
- Manage stock movements between stores and manufacturing floors
- Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile discrepancies
- Monitor stock levels and flag replenishment needs
- Notify low stock for consumables and frequently used items
- Ensure visibility of available stock supports manufacturing and operational planning
- Verify incoming materials against purchase orders and delivery documentation
- Escalate non-conforming deliveries and documentation issues
- Collect and maintain supplier certifications and supporting records
- Ensure all materials are correctly identified, labelled, and stored

Traceability & Identification
- Apply part identification (serial numbers, barcodes, life numbers)
- Maintain component traceability for both internal and external supply
- Support configuration control and history tracking of components
Manufacturing & Operational Support
- Prepare work kits and part packs for scheduled manufacturing
- Assemble stock and hardware packs for Tour requirements
- Generate shipping and transfer documentation for stock movements
- Coordinate transfers between SGPT and Tour operations
- Support manufacturing teams with material availability inquiries
Inventory Systems & Process Improvement
- Update and maintain inventory records in Cheqroom and linked systems
- Assist with ERP inventory and material tracking
- Drive continuous improvement in inventory control and material flow
- Facilitate the implementation of traceability, barcode, and identification systems

About You
Essential Criteria
- Proven stores or inventory management experience
- Proficiency in barcoding systems and stock control methodologies
- Exceptional attention to detail, especially regarding high-value stock and compliance
- Strong organisational skills, prioritisation, communication, and administrative expertise
Desirable Skills
- Experience with ERP or similar inventory software
- Confidence in technical and verbal communication
- Experience working independently but also thriving in fast-paced, collaborative teams
- entrepreneurial mindset with a commitment to exceeding targets
- Broad technology knowledge (hardware, software, process automation)
- Willingness to travel nationally/internationally for operational requirements
