Stores Assistant - 6-month Contract
We are seeking a talented, self-motivated individual to join us as a Stores Assistant on a 6-month contract basis, working full-time on-site at SPT Labtech. The successful person will support all aspects of the Stores function and will be a key part of our mission to support our customers, making a positive difference to human health.
You'll be dynamic, forward-thinking, and willing to identify initiatives that will improve departmental efficiencies and enhance our internal department communications.
Experience within a logistics environment is preferred, although full in-house training will be provided.

Your Key Responsibilities
Goods Inwards
- Receive and check incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes
- Inspect goods for damage or discrepancies and report issues promptly
- Accurately book goods into the inventory system
- Label and store items in designated locations following company procedures
- Maintain clean and organized goods in the area

Works Order Picking
- Pick and prepare materials for work orders in line with production schedules
- Ensure accuracy of picked items and quantities
- Stage materials in appropriate areas for easy access by production teams
- Update systems to reflect stock movements
- Liaise with production or operations teams to resolve shortages or discrepancies.
Consumable Order Process
- Pick consumable items according to picking lists, orders, or system instructions
- Accurately count, check, and pack items to meet order requirements
- Ensure consumables are picked in line with FIFO and stock rotation rules
- Use warehouse management systems (WMS), scanners, or manual paperwork as required
- Replenish picking locations to agreed minimum stock levels
- Report low stock levels, damages, or discrepancies to supervision
- Follow all health & safety, quality, and site procedures
- Work collaboratively with other warehouse teams (goods-in, dispatch, stores)
General Duties
- Conduct regular stock checks and support inventory accuracy initiatives
- Follow health & safety guidelines and safe working practices
- Maintain housekeeping standards within the stores area
- Assist with other warehouses or store-related tasks as needed
- Follow all health & safety, quality, and site procedures
- Work collaboratively with other warehouse teams (goods-in, dispatch, stores)
- Any other duties as set out by the Stores supervisor

Skills & Attributes
- Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, or logistics role would be desirable
- A great team player with a willingness to learn
- Educated to GCSE level with success in Maths, English highly desired
- Microsoft Office skills
- Advanced problem-solving and fault-finding abilities
- Good attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to manage all aspects of the role working to sometimes very tight deadlines
- Ability to multitask and flexibility to working practices preferred
- Some manual lifting will be required with this position.
