Stores Operator at Turnstead Cement Plant – Buxton, Derbyshire

Job Introduction

Are you an experienced and dynamic Stores Operator looking for your next position?

We are seeking a Stores Operator at our Unstead cement plant in Buxton, Derbyshire, to support our Buxton cluster of sites. This is a key role supporting the smooth operation of our Unstead stores, holding essential stock and spare parts.

The ideal candidate must be a team player, adaptable, and able to prioritise tasks while adhering to policies, procedures, and customer needs.


Main Responsibilities

Your daily duties will include:

  • Supporting operations across the Buxton cluster of sites
  • Adhering to rules, policies, and regulations for stores operations
  • Ensuring accurate delivery control—receiving, distributing, and moving stock between sites
  • Maintaining housekeeping and tidiness in stores, with proper item storage
  • Receiving and recording delivery goods
  • Managing stock and spares inventories
  • Tracking stock in SAP, ensuring records are accurate and up to date
  • Picking, organising, and delivering items within relevant deadlines
  • Handling parcels, post, and collections

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a Stores Operator with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Up-to-date Forklift Operator Licence
  • Valid driving licence
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Warehouse Operations, including forklift use
  • Ability to lift, sling, and transport heavy objects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with SAP (or equivalent ERP software)

The role is based at Tarmac’s Tunstead site in Buxton, easily accessible from nearby towns and cities, including Macclesfield, Sheffield, Matlock, Chesterfield, Rotherham, Huddersfield, Oldham, Stockport, and Warrington.
