Stores Operative – Wakefield (Pinderfields & Pontefract Hospitals Contract) EQUANS / Mid Yorkshire Trust – Permanent, Full-Time, 37.5 Hours Per Week

About the Role

EQUANS is seeking a Stores Operative for a permanent full-time role (37.5 hours per week) supporting Pinderfields & Pontefract Hospitals under contract. This role offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including:

Job Purpose

To control and manage the receipt and distribution of all goods from Central Store to designated areas, ensuring optimal stock levels and efficient service delivery within Mid Yorkshire Trust locations.


Key Responsibilities

Professional Duties

  • Receiving & Inspection
    • Accurately receive, inspect, and log all deliveries against documentation.
    • Ensure stock records match delivery details (adhere to procedures).
  • Stock Handling & Distribution
    • Pick, pack, and issue stock promptly to meet ward/department requests.
    • Confirm order accuracy and meet deadlines.
  • Inventory Management
    • Conduct regular stock checks and cycle counts.
    • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in stock records.
  • Safe Storage
    • Store goods securely, labelled, and rotated to prevent damage/loss.
    • Use authorised mechanical handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, motorised tugs) per safety guidelines.

    • Support stock management services to meet performance targets.
    • Identify process improvements for efficiency.

    • Provide timely, professional assistance to wards/departments.

Equipment & Resources

  • Use materials/equipment responsibly to minimise waste and costs.
  • Operate/maintain equipment safely; report faults immediately.

Teamwork & Communication

  • Collaborate with colleagues to smooth operations.
  • Communicate clearly with teams and customers (build positive relationships).
  • Attend team meetings and follow supervisor instructions.

Training & Development

  • Complete mandatory training (Health & Safety, equipment operation).
  • Maintain/expand skills to perform duties effectively.
