Stories & Content Manager, GUY'S & ST THOMAS FOUNDATION

Stories & Content Manager

The Stories & Content Manager is responsible for developing and delivering an integrated, diverse stories and content plan to support the three charity brands – Evelina London Children’s Charity, Guy’s Cancer Charity, and the Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity.

Reporting to the Senior Brand & Content Manager, this role focuses on creating compelling, purposeful content across both digital and offline channels. This contributes significantly to showcasing the charities’ work, driving fundraising ambitions, and raising brand awareness. The manager works closely across all teams within the Charities directorate, ensuring relevant, timely content supports multiple campaigns simultaneously.


Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning

  • Develop and deliver the stories strategy for the organisation, liaising with key internal and external stakeholders across the Foundation and NHS Trust.
  • Execute a comprehensive content strategy aligned with the charities’ goals, target audiences, and brand identity.

Content Creation

  • Create high-quality content across multiple platforms, including websites, blogs, social media, and email marketing campaigns.
  • Research, gather, and sensitively write/collate stories for use across various channels in formats such as written, video, animation, and photography.
  • Support video production related to charity stories, including:
    • Managing shoots
    • Sourcing film locations
    • Setting shoot schedules
    • Filming or supervising shoots
    • Planning final distribution
  • Collaborate with external agencies, photographers, and videographers to produce content featuring supported individuals.
  • Ensure diversity of voices in storytelling, adhering to the charities’ Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy.

Planning and Process

  • Maintain robust story gathering systems to identify and support individuals who consent to sharing their experiences, ensuring:
    • Safeguarding
    • Risk assessment
    • Compliance with consent procedures
  • Manage a database of stories, tracking usage across charities to maximise their potential on channels and events.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across a matrix organisational structure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and develop content aligned with charity goals.

Other Responsibilities

  • Manage budgets related to stories strategy and implementation.
  • Upskill and support teams across the three charities in storytelling and content production best practice.
  • Perform additional duties as required, commensurate with the role level.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Skills, Abilities & Attributes

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Creative writing and digital content development for varied platforms.
  • Strong digital communication skills.
  • Robust organisational and time management — prioritising diverse workloads while meeting deadlines.
  • Flexible thinking and ability to generate original concepts.
  • Engagement and relationship-building with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, including a hybrid working model.
  • Confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information.

Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Experience in creating written and video content for different audiences.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS).
  • Ability to conduct interviews confidentially and sensitively, including with vulnerable individuals.
  • Experience managing interactions with internal and external stakeholders, including those from diverse backgrounds.
  • Background in communications and marketing.
  • Experience with budget management.
  • Proven initiative and adaptability.
  • Understanding of consent and data protection best practices.
