Strategic Account Manager – Central Scotland (Field-Based)
About the Role
Join Brandon Hire Station, part of the Vp plc group, one of the UK’s leading tool and equipment hire specialists. Supporting customers across construction, infrastructure, facilities management and industrial sectors, we’re seeking an experienced Strategic Account Manager to manage and grow a portfolio of mid-to-large regional strategic accounts, driving revenue, margin, and long-term partnerships.
This field-based role covers Central Scotland, reporting directly to the Regional Sales Director. Success will be measured through proactive new business development, relationship building, and delivering customer-centric solutions to strengthen partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and secure new regional strategic accounts through proactive prospecting, networking, and market intelligence
- Develop and execute structured account growth plans to maximise share of wallet
- Manage and grow a portfolio of mid-to-large regional customers, focusing on retainment and volume
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at multiple organisational levels
- Collaborate closely with regional operations and branch teams to ensure consistent service excellence
- Act as the local lead for strategic support, driving sales opportunities and pipeline expansion in designated regions
- Lead regular account review meetings, discussing performance, mutual goals, and growth opportunities
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activity relevant to the region
- Act as the voice of the customer, feeding insights on product performance and service needs to inform future development
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records for all assigned accounts

What We’re Looking For
- A proven track record in regional account management or strategic sales
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to identify and convert new business opportunities
- Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
- Confident negotiator with experience managing contracts and pricing structures
- Strategic thinker capable of developing and executing regional growth plans
- Self-motivated, organised, and results-driven – able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Desirable: Experience within construction services, tool hire, or equipment rental
Performance Measures (Role KPIs)
We track success through the following critical metrics:
- Drive regional revenue growth across strategic accounts
- Retain and grow medium-to-large accounts
- Increase share of wallet and acquire new strategic customers
- Deliver margin improvement, contributing to regional profit targets
- Achieve strong bid and tender success rates
- Maintain service excellence through SLA compliance and high Net Promoter Score (NPS)
- Manage credit risk and reduce aged debt within strategic accounts
- Ensure CRM accuracy with timely updates and data integrity
