Are you passionate about shaping how organisations work and driving meaningful transformation? We are looking for a highly skilled Strategic Business Architect to support the delivery of organisational design and transformation initiatives that enable the Service to achieve its strategic objectives.
This role focuses on ensuring that change is well planned, aligned with organisational goals, and delivers real benefits. It is a unique opportunity to influence organisation-wide decision-making, strengthen business planning, and support the delivery of long-term transformation aligned with the Community Risk Management Plan.
You will work across teams to understand current processes, identify improvements, and turn plans into clear, practical actions.

- Working with strategic leaders to translate organisational insight, evidence, and strategic priorities into a coherent strategic vision, ensuring alignment with The Community Risk Management Plan, strategy, and clearly defined target state for the Service.
- Collaborating closely with the Project Management Office to assess and strengthen Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue’s change portfolio, evaluating cross-departmental interactions, identifying interdependencies, and supporting improved governance approaches.
- Analysing organisational needs and translating them into clear, actionable requirements that inform change design, ensuring solutions are evidence-based, strategically aligned, and deliver measurable value.
- Translating strategic priorities into coherent, delivery-focused change programmes by defining required capabilities, processes, structures, and outcomes to support the Service’s long-term goals.
- Providing key insights in developing and delivering the Community Risk Management Plan, ensuring organisational design, capabilities, and processes are aligned with risk-based evidence and strategic intent.
- Supporting the Annual Delivery Planning process, ensuring each ADP is deliverable and aligned with strategic objectives and the Community Risk Management Plan.
- Offering expert business architecture insight to senior leaders and decision-making forums, clearly communicating organisational impacts, dependencies, and options to support effective strategic and operational decision-making.
- Collaborating with ICT, Digital, and Data functions to ensure technology, data, and digital solutions are aligned with business capabilities and support strategic and operational requirements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
