Our client is a well-known plc and is one of the country's leading technology businesses operating within the aerospace, defence, automotive, and general industrial sectors. Having gone through a recent reorganisation, the group is now well positioned to take advantage of the various growth opportunities that exist in its key markets on a global basis.
Role Overview
The Strategic Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, shaping, and developing medium-term (2 to 5 years) strategic growth opportunities across the aerospace and defence markets. The role focuses on positioning the group before sourcing decisions are made by engaging customers during industrialisation, qualification planning, supply chain restructuring, and manufacturing footprint decisions.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Group’s transition from a transactional supplier towards a strategic industrial partner within the aerospace and defence manufacturing ecosystems.
- Map out the OEMs, Tier ones, and suppliers to prioritise strategic engagement opportunities.
- Build strategic customer relationships.
Ideal Candidate
This is a new position in the Group and will suit somebody who has a strong understanding of the UK Aerospace sector, including qualification processes and industrial supply chains. A demonstrable ability to build strategic customer relationships is a key skill that is sought for this role and will therefore appeal to an existing Key Account Manager or someone who is already performing a market development/business development role within the aerospace engineering/manufacturing sector.
