Strategic Buyer
Strategic Buyer – Fife
This is a critical strategic role ensuring the efficient supply of goods and services. Based in Fife, the Buyer will manage procurement activities, optimise supply chain operations, and foster strong supplier relationships.
About the Role
The Buyer plays a key position in managing procurement processes to support business needs within a globally recognised, impact-driven business. The company is committed to innovation and operational excellence, with a dynamic procurement team focused on enhancing supply chain efficiency across group operations.
Key Objectives
The Buyer must:
- Manage end-to-end procurement processes, aligning them with organisational goals
- Source and negotiate with suppliers to secure cost-effective solutions
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure contractual compliance
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, bridging procurement and strategic objectives
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and streamline supply chain processes
- Maintain accurate procurement documentation, including records and contracts
- Ensure timely delivery of goods and services to support operational efficiency
- Assist in supplier risk management with mitigation strategies

Responsibilities
- Oversee procurement from sourcing to contract fulfillment
- Conduct supplier negotiations, assessing and improving terms
- Track supplier performance via KPIs and deliver feedback
- Work with internal teams to define and meet procurement needs
- Continuously review and optimise supply chain workflows
- Keep systematic records of procurement activities and financial data
- Coordinate with logistics and operations to align supply chain with business demands
- Advise on supplier market trends and opportunities for process efficiency
Requirements
The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented Buyer with:
- Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management
- Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills
- Knowledge of procurement best practices, including tendering and contract law
- Ability to collaborate across departments, ensuring cross-functional alignment
- Excellent organisation, time management, and analytical skills
- Familiarity with procurement software tools (e.g., SAP, Coupa)
- Problem-solving mindset with a results-driven approach
- Commitment to achieving cost savings and process improvements
