Strategic Commissioning Manager – Long Term Conditions
Starting salary: ££53,460 (pro rata for part-time colleagues)
BCP Council’s Adult Social Care Commissioning is seeking a Strategic Commissioning Manager to join its Long Term Conditions team. This role sits within a structured pay band, offering clear career progression.
Starting salary is at the entry point of the band; internal promotions follow similar principles.
This role involves commissioning and operational management of services supporting adults with care and support needs across Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole (BCP). Ideal for an experienced commissioning professional, this leadership position offers the chance to shape and strengthen support services for vulnerable adults—ensuring they live well, stay independent, and access care promptly.

• Intermediate care services • Management and growth of the Adult Social Care brokerage function
About the Role
Responsibilities: • Lead harmonious brokerage services to enhance health, wellbeing, and outcomes for vulnerable adults and carers • Collaborate with key partners (e.g., NHS) to identify local service development opportunities and strengthen joint working • Oversee and inspire the Adult Social Care brokerage team, ensuring high-quality, flexible, responsive service delivery for internal/external stakeholders • Contribute to planning and delivery of ASC contracts, brokerage improvements, and broader business planning • Establish and manage project coordination for internal initiatives, ensuring timely targets across the service unit • Maintain excellence in service delivery, aligning with the Care Act, council procurement standards, and financial best practices • Implement robust budget monitoring, addressing variances to drive value-driven decisions

About You
Essential Criteria: • Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience in adult social care commissioning, with expertise in: — Intermediate care — Operational brokerage services • Proven ability to engage stakeholders and service users, embedding user-focused commissioning strategies • Experience leading change—executing service improvements against measurable outcomes • Sound understanding of relevant legislation, statuory duties, and Care Act compliance
