About the Role

Responsible for shaping, coordinating, and delivering structured business development, client engagement, and market expansion across the Earth, Environment, and Sustainability (EES) business portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves translating portfolio strategy into tangible growth activities by:

  • Strengthening relationships with existing and new corporate clients via senior-level access.
  • Identifying adjacent market opportunities across EES.
  • Supporting coordinated work winning in sectors driven by environmental risks, sustainability, planning, consenting, climate resilience, nature, digital solutions, and multidisciplinary delivery.

Core Duties

  • Client Engagement Strategy: Develop and maintain a structured programme for priority clients and sectors, aligned with portfolio strategy.
  • Senior Relationship Development: Build and elevate relationships with executive stakeholders, procurement leads, and decision-makers.
  • Business Development: Identify, qualify, and progress new business opportunities across key markets, ensuring integration with EES expertise.
  • Cross-Selling & Integration: Inspire cross-disciplinary collaboration, enabling better client solutions through our Earth, Environment, and Sustainability Advisory capabilities.
  • Market Insight: Provide horizon scanning by analysing client trends, policy shifts, investments, and competitors to drive strategic growth.
  • Proposition & Marketing Leadership: Coordinate market profile-raising activities (campaigns, thought leadership, case studies) to improve visibility.
  • Client Feedback & Improvement: Lead structured feedback programmes to enhance client experience, delivery, and future positioning.
  • Event & Bid Support: Assist capture planning for strategic pursuits, ensure onsisable client insights contribute to value propositions.

Collaboration Partners

  • Strategy and growth leads, Managing Directors, Heads of Discipline, Sector Leads and Account Managers.
  • Technical leaders, Marketing & Communications, Bid Teams, Commercial activities, and Delivery teams.
  • External clients, partners, industry bodies, influencers.

Success Criteria

Achieve measurable goals through: ✅ A structured client engagement programme with reviewed action plans. ✅ Increased senior client access, mapping and prioritising stakeholders. ✅ A stronger, well-qualified pipeline with consistent monthly reviews. ✅ Improved cross-selling and integration between EES with wider firm offerings. ✅ Better feedback-loop implementation via structured client reporting. ✅ Enhanced market profile through campaigns, thought leadership, and communications.

Essential Skills & Behaviours

  • Client engagement orientation and relationship-building at senior levels.
  • Proven business development track record, including win/loss analysis.
  • Strategic market insight with focus on EES, sustainability, and climate sectors.
  • Ability to collaborate across divisions and align growth activities in a matrix organisation.
  • Strong protposition development skills, tying technical EES capabilities to client needs.
