Strategic Insights Senior Analyst

Senior Strategy and Insights Analyst – Whole Energy System Resilience

About the Role

The Whole Energy System Resilience (WESR) directorate strengthens whole-energy-system resilience by driving change—converting insights into coordinated, prioritised action that reduces risk and enhances capability across the system. WESR achieves this through:

  • Analysis, assessments, and reviews
  • Emergency exercises
  • Plans that deliver measurable improvements

WESR operates through a structured cycle of improvement:

  • Systematic learning about energy system risks and resilience
  • Conducting prioritised assessments to identify key insights and advice
  • Translating insights into actionable improvements

The directorate is expanding its strategic, system-wide capability, integrating insights across all teams to inform prioritised risks, workplans, and engagement strategies. Specialist teams remain focused on developing expertise in their areas.

This role offers flexibility:

  • Remote / Hyrid working: Based from Wokingham, Warwick, Glasgow (options available).
  • Part-time/full-time:open to applicants.
  • Flexible working arrangements supported.

The Opportunity

You will develop and interpret strategic insights that connect trends, risks, and priorities across:

  • WESR (Whole Energy System Resilience)
  • NESO (National Energy System Operator)
  • Wider energy system

This role supports the development of a real-time understanding of energy system resilience, consolidating evidence fron WESR’s work and external sources to identify critical priorities and impactful interventions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Insight Synthesis:

    • Gather and analyse energy system resilience risk assessment from WESR, NESO, Government, industry, and research partners.
    • Draw connections across WESR’s specialist teams and markets for emerging themes, gaps in understanding, and actionable insights.
  • Strategic Narrative Development:

    • Contribute to a coherent resilience narrative linking insights from WESR, NESO, and the energy landscape.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
