Strategic People Business Partner

At Southern Housing, our vision is simple: to create communities where everyone has a safe home in a place, they are proud to live. We are a large organisation with a strong local focus, and our people play a vital role in helping us make a real difference for residents and communities.

We are now looking for a Strategic People Business Partner to join our People team and work closely with senior leaders to drive meaningful change, strengthen colleague experience and support the delivery of our People & Culture Strategy.

Reporting into the Head of People Business Partners & ER, you will partner with senior leaders to deliver strategic and operational objectives across your business area. You will play a key role in making Southern Housing an employer of choice by driving effective people strategies, building capability and supporting managers to deliver through their teams.

What you’ll be doing: Acting as a strategic partner to senior stakeholders to enable delivery of business objectives. Driving workforce planning, succession planning, organisational design and resource forecasting. Supporting ACAS early conciliation and Employment Tribunal preparation where required. Leading on complex casework, working closely with the Employee Relations Team. Using people data and insights to identify trends, improve performance and inform decisions. I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
