Role: Strategic Project Lead – PCB & AI Platforms Location: Remote (Work from Anywhere) Job Type: Full-Time Salary: $400K – $550K/yr


Role Overview

We are hiring for one of our clients to fill the position of Strategic Project Lead – PCB & Embedded Design, responsible for overseeing end-to-end hardware development projects from concept to production. This leadership role involves coordinating cross-functional teams across PCB layout, embedded firmware, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing partners, defining project scope, timelines, and resource allocation while ensuring alignment with technical and business requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute project plans for PCB and embedded system designs, aligning technical efforts with business objectives and feasibility.
  • Lead collaboration between hardware engineers, firmware developers, and third-party vendors to deliver high-quality prototypes within budget.
  • Manage PCB layout reviews, signal integrity analysis, and component selection to optimise performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for project progress, risk mitigation, and quality assurance.
  • Present technical and strategic updates to stakeholders, including executive leadership, to secure approvals and necessary resources.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 7 years in PCB design and embedded systems development, with at least 3 years in a project leadership or management role.
    • Experience managing cross-functional teams (hardware, firmware, mechanical engineering, and suppliers).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in PCB design tools, e.g., Altium Designer, KiCad, or Cadence Allegro.
    • Embedded firmware development in C/C++, including debugging via JTAG or logic analysers.
    • Strong understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal management.
    • Familiarity with industry standards (IPC-2221, IPC-A-610) and UL certification processes.
    • Experience with version control (Git) and hardware documentation tools (Confluence, Jira).
    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, DFM (Design for Manufacturing), and supply chain coordination.
  • Soft Skills & Competencies:
    • Ability to assess technical risks and balance cost, schedule, and performance trade-offs.
    • Strong stakeholder management and cross-team communication skills.
