Strategy Analyst Vice President – Barclays Payments Collaboration

About the Role

Hackajob is partnering with Barclays to connect them with top talent for this strategic leadership position.

As Strategy Analyst Vice President within Barclays Payments, you will lead high-impact initiatives shaping the future direction of the business. Focused on areas like growth strategy and capital allocation, you’ll conduct in-depth analyses and translate insights into actionable strategic plans.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Designing and communicating strategic frameworks
  • Aligning senior stakeholders to prioritise initiatives and drive execution
  • Ownership of key components of the recovery plan, ensuring compliance with regulatory expectations and broader business objectives
  • Collaborating with product and technology teams to ensure delivery aligns with long-term strategy
  • Supporting M&A activity, including strategic assessment, due diligence, and integration planning

This is a high-visibility role, influencing board-level decisions with both analytical rigor and commercial insight.

Barclays’ Payments Acceptance business underpins the UK economy, processing billions of pounds annually for small businesses, domestic, and international corporate clients.

To drive the future of the payments sector, Barclays has partnered with Brookfield Asset Management to grow, transform, and innovate Barclays Payments. Investing £400m+—with incentives tied to long-term performance—Barclays and Brookfield will establish a standalone payments acceptance services provider under the Barclaycard Payments (BPL) brand for at least 10 years.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
