Want to do work that really matters?
At Checkatrade, we’re building the UK’s go-to home improvement marketplace. Every day, we help millions of homeowners find the right tradesperson for the job, fast, fair, and without the faff.
As we continue to expand our platform and evolve how we drive growth, we’re looking for a Strategy & Operations Manager (Product) to lead the development and scaling of Checkatrade’s advertising proposition.
This role sits right at the intersection of product, strategy and commercial execution - giving you a unique opportunity to shape how advertising works within our ecosystem and unlock entirely new revenue streams.
Forget long lists, here’s what you’ll actually spend your time on:
- Shaping and evolving our advertising strategy. You’ll look at what’s working today, where the opportunities are, and define how we grow this area over time.
- Translating strategy into execution. Turning ideas into real products and features, working closely with product, engineering and commercial teams to bring them to life.
- Using data to drive decisions. You’ll dig into performance, user behaviour and market trends to identify opportunities and guide where we invest next.
- Working cross-functionally across the business. From engineers and designers to sales and commercial teams — you’ll be the person connecting the dots and driving alignment.
- Experimenting constantly. Whether it’s pricing, positioning, new formats or performance improvements, you’ll test, learn and iterate quickly.
- Driving a new growth stream for Checkatrade. This isn’t just optimisation — you’ll be helping to build and scale a key part of our future business model.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

It’s not about ticking every box. It’s about turning up curious, ready to crack on. You’ll do well here if you bring:
- Experience in product, strategy, operations or a related field. Consulting, ad tech or digital marketplaces is a bonus.
- A strong strategic mindset. You can step back, spot opportunities, and then break them down into clear, actionable steps.
- Confidence working with data. You’re comfortable analysing performance, running experiments and using insights to guide decisions.
- A collaborative approach. You enjoy working closely with product, engineering, and commercial teams to make things happen.
- Strong problem-solving skills. You can take complex, messy challenges and turn them into something clear and actionable.
- Clear communication. You can explain your thinking, influence stakeholders and bring people with you.
- A bias for action. You’re comfortable working in ambiguity, making decisions quickly and pushing things forward.
