Connect to your opportunity
As a Strategy Consultant you will be delivering strategy work for our clients day-to-day. While no two projects are the same, you will typically be supporting a workstream within a larger engagement, with oversight and support from a Strategy Manager or senior colleagues as needed. You’ll play a vital hands-on role in designing and executing the strategic analysis required, conducting research and assembling evidence, distilling insights and constructing strategic recommendations.

The nature of the work we do includes:

  • Working with clients to understand and define strategic choices ahead of key investment decisions
  • Traditional evidence-led analysis to identify market developments and opportunities to support client strategy formation, including hypothesis based approaches
  • Determining the optimum business or commercial model to effectively deliver client objectives
  • Helping our clients develop and deliver operational excellence in specific areas, identifying new ways of working that will stimulate innovation and growth, and lead to better decision-making
  • Guiding and supporting clients through imagining, defining and delivering their journey to establish competitive advantage

The team: The role sits within the Financial Services Strategy team, part of Monitor Deloitte's Strategy Consulting practice. You’ll also benefit from being part of the wider Financial Services community, building a network with FS experts across Deloitte, in M&A, Technology & Transformation, Data & AI, and operations consulting lines.

As a Senior Consultant your responsibilities will include:

  • Executing rigorous and insightful analysis to build an evidence base to support strategy development and change, including with the use of approved AI tools
  • Being accountable for the analysis and insight for a workstream or small project
  • Structuring a component of the ‘problem’, developing hypothesis with direction from senior team members
  • Independently completing research and analysis to support quality deliverables, demonstrating strong critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills
  • Owning sections of client deliverables and preparing them to a high standard
  • Clearly communicating analysis approach and results to team leaders and clients
  • Proactively developing your own skills, seeking feedback, building knowledge, and sharing your insight with colleagues
  • Supporting development of the Financial Services Strategy community and team, and supporting business development with clients

Essential

  • Experience of strategy consulting within a consulting firm or an in-house strategy role
  • Experience of working directly in Banking, Insurance and / or Payments, with a desire to build a career in these areas
  • Good understanding of at least one sector across Banking, Insurance, Payments and the underlying customers, propositions, economics
  • Good understanding of how to construct and evidence strategic arguments, and creativity in identifying evidence sources
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including strong judgement in materials for senior stakeholders.
  • Strong time management skills to manage competing priorities across client service, practice development and business development responsibilities
  • Strong academic track record
  • Flexibility to travel

Desirable

  • Any sector specific qualifications (e.g. CFA or other courses or relevant certificates)
  • Experience in proposition design, delivery and customer strategy
