About the Role
In a newly established Strategy function, we are building a small, high-impact team that defines the future direction of the GSMA and the mobile industry.
As a Strategy Consultant, you’ll combine structured thinking, analytical rigour, and strong communication to transform complex questions into clear recommendations. This role bridges sector strategy and corporate strategy, covering foresight, planning, business cases, and executive decision-making.
The position offers exceptional exposure to senior leadership and the chance to influence high-impact industry topics.
About the Team
The Strategy team ensures the GSMA’s long-term value—aligning priorities with members and the broader mobile ecosystem. Responsibilities include:
- Sector Strategy & Foresight – Defining industry outlooks (3–5-year horizon) and implications for the GSMA
- Corporate Strategy – Developing a 3-year strategic roadmap, KPIs, business plans, and operational plans
- Strategic Initiatives – Leading projects like 5G monetisation, 6G, AI, innovation, and inorganic growth opportunities
- GSMA Intelligence – Providing trusted data and insights (forecasts, real-time analytics, global research)
- Strategy Group – Facilitating alignment among telecom CSOs on industry priorities
As a small team, we work cross-functionally and globally to drive clarity, execution, and impact.
Core Responsibilities
The Strategy Consultant proposes high-quality insights, recommendations, and decision frameworks for both industry and internal priorities.

Key Tasks

Strategic Analysis & Insight Development
- Conduct structured analyses on industry trends (AI, 5G monetisation, 6G, ecosystem shifts).
- Develop assessments of markets, competitors, and ecosystems.
- Support sector outlooks and foresight reports.
- Translate complexity into clear strategic implications.

Corporate Strategy & Planning
- Support the 3-year strategic plan and roadmaps.
- Assist in portfolio analysis and prioritisation.
- Develop business cases and investment assessments.
- Define KPIs and success metrics.
- Prepare briefings for the Executive Committee and Board.

Problem Structuring & Decision Support
- Break ambiguous challenges into clear workstreams.
- Build analytical models, scenarios, and frameworks.
- Present recommendations with defined trade-offs and risks.
- Ensure decisions are data-driven and evidence-based.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Engage with regional/functional teams to gather insights.
- Facilitate workshops and discussions.
- Bridge gaps between strategy and operations.
Requirements & Skills
Experience & Competencies
- Prior experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, or project management.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Comfortable handling quantitative and qualitative data.
- Ability to structure ambiguity into actionable frameworks.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Exceptional written/verbal articulation.
- High intellectual curiosity and fast adaptive learning.
Essential Domains
- Background in management consulting, telecom, tech, or digital ecosystems.
- Demonstrated ability to turn analysis into actionable insights.
