Strategy Consultant, Japan

Based in Tokyo (relocation required)

The firm advises senior executives, boards, and investors on some of their most complex commercial decisions, from investments and acquisitions to market entry, political developments, and reputational challenges. Clients include multinational corporations, Japanese businesses, private equity funds, and other international organisations operating across Japan and Asia-Pacific.

This Manager level opportunity is suited to professionals with experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or risk advisory. Individuals who enjoy solving complex problems, engaging with senior stakeholders, and producing high-quality analysis will thrive in this role.

The Role

  • Deliver advisory assignments for Japanese and multinational clients.
  • Assess commercial, political, and reputational risks surrounding transactions, investments, and strategic decisions.
  • Conduct enquiries, leveraging extensive professional networks to develop unique client insights.
  • Produce clear, concise written briefings and present findings directly to senior clients.
  • Work closely with the firm's global offices on complex, cross-border engagements.
  • Support business development in Japan and mentor junior team members.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
